Gang:
We are having a bugger of time locating spray chalk - we have literally spent two days scouring the city, hitting Lowes, Ace, Tractor Supply, art supply stores, lumber yards, etc. We have successfully located 4 cans... yepee. If anyone know where to get more locally let us know. But we cannot ship it via air (thanks Feds).

Additionally, we checked with city hall – it is legal. But we don't want to abuse the privilege. So here are the rules:

a) Use it sparingly. For example, if you're doing Mass Ave. I wouldn't hit that street more than 3-4 times (every block or so).
b) Keep a log of where. We want to check that it has faded within a week or two, if it has not, we want to be able to go wash it off (yes it washes off).

We want to hit - Broad Ripple, Mass Ave. areas near events such as IMAF (16th and Delaware), etc. We'll probably need about 4 teams of 2 for the side walk art. Additionally, we are printing posters, so we'll need a few teams to hang those around town.

I should hit the Arts District of Carmel (and downtown Carmel). I have some friends who might help just for the fun of it... I'll have to see...

OK...looks like we have support!

Here's what's happening: I want to let everyone know that Smoosier, Daniel Herndon, is going to captain / coordinate this effort. He's going to let everyone know when and where we need help...so please communicate with Daniel as needed if you have questions...His company, RedWallLive, does experiential marketing, so I'm psyched that he has volunteered to help us execute the guerrilla stuff...I asked him to reach out to the volunteers on this forum thread to make sure you all can help as you wish and as you are able. I've listed his contact info below. Also, if you get a chance, please take photos when you're out on the streets...SI would love to catch you in the act...THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO'S HELPING!!
Thanks,
Pat

Please...everyone go through Daniel - over communicate if necessary - so we avoid confusion.

My wife put it more succinctly than my comment that I'm hesitant to endorse graffiti in a neighborhood that's riddled with gang tags.

She said: Why don't we just encourage people to tag Pat Coyle's house??

Or their own???

I do NOT think that this is a good idea.

Sorry to be a nay-sayer, but even spray chalk is a huge strike against the city's (and my personal!) attempts to make Indy a better, more beautiful place to live.
