Making people and ideas findable

How do you feel about Fox News, tonight's debate and text message polls?

We normally try to focus our daily discussions on one topic, but with the big debate tonight there are simply too many juicy things to talk about. So we've picked three questions inspired by this photo:

1. Is Fox News more or less partisan than, say, NBC?
2. Will tonight's debate make any difference in the way America votes?
3. Do you, or does anyone you know actually participate in text message polls?

1. More partisan. Way more.
2. It might make a bump in Barack Obama's poll numbers.
3. No.

1) Fox News is definitely partisan. More than NBC? A little bit more, yes.

2) Like a lot of elections, when it's this late in the "game", I don't think tonight's debate will make any significant difference in who's voting for who. The only exception would be if Sen. Obama makes a huge blunder.

3) Like Erik, No.

1) Definite more partisan than NBC (Williams, Brokaw). I would say equal to CNN (Paul Begala? Come on...) however, and less than MSNBC (Olbermann has no equal on being partisan)

2) IF McCain actually plays ball and hammers Obama, especially regarding his recent Robin Hood-esque comment "spread the wealth around" and what his "taxcut to 95%" actually means, he stands to gain some ground. A 3rd boring debate full of canned punchlines from both sides would spell the end of McCain.

3) Text message polls are completely worthless. McCain wins the debate hands down on FoxNews and Drudge. Obama has a landslide on CNN and MSNBC. The winner has already been determined by the network you watch.

1. Fox News is more commentary/debate. NBC, ABC and CBS looks at news from a East Coast perspective.
2. Tonights debate will prove we are screwed with either candidate.
3. Polls are for strippers.

LOL... Thanks for the laugh Steve!

1. I think partisanship is in the eye of the beholder. If you lean towards liberalism anything that supports your viewpoint will seem non-partisan and vice-versa. Quite frankly, the partisanship of any broadcast media outlet is directly related to the partisanship of their sponsors.

2. No-- unless one of the candidates really steps on his... er um.. I can't think of a politically correct replacement phrase, sorry

3. No--I defer to Steve's answer on this one.

1. Fox News definitely has its leanings toward the right. But on the other side of the teeter-totter is: CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, etc. - and they all lean left.

2. I don't think the debate will change any minds. Might put hundreds of thousands to sleep, but minds are made up.

3. I don't and I don't know anyone who does. It's hard to text while sleeping on the couch...

1. Much more partisan than NBC. But no more partisan than MSNBC. O'Reilly and Olberman cancel each other out.
2. No because no drama Obama is playing his safe 4 corner game to run out the clock.
3. I do partcipate- but I am not a stripper- Darn!

1. Absolutely. See naked John's comments above.
2. I sincerely hope tonight will make a difference. I am terribly afraid of an Obama run country with a fully Democratic legislative and executive branch. You can throw checks and balances right out the window. McCain has to step it up tonight.
3. I have never even heard of txt message polls until now. Is it like voting for our favorite American Idol?

1) Fox News is indeed partisan but not more so than MSNBC. And sorry, Dick, but nobody is as obnoxious as Keith Olberman... except maybe Chris Matthews!

2) Unless McCain comes out swinging with answers on issues as well as Obama's connections to some pretty shady people, it will not make a difference.

3) I don't text message, and I don't have a poll, although I hear it's a great workout!

Fox News is a completely bias media outlet. It was created with a devious purpose to undermine the Clinton administration back in the 90s by an extreme right-wing Republican, Rupert Murdoch. It is a complete freak show with outrageous side show acts such as bozo Bill O'Reilly and she-devil Ann Coulter.

Tonight's debate was much more entertaining and much more informative. More eloquence and more direct answers. Obama did the exactly what he needed to do: remained calm, cool and collective.
They both addressed their stances on the issues. Kudos to Scheiffer!
McCain did "ok: but too little, too late. McCain seemed stiff, defensive and awkward.

And the winner is...I think it's becoming more and more clear

I think Jessica needs to go to her happy place (and don't watch Fox News there). Keith Olbermann is there waiting with a hug...
