CNN sees Facebook as its competition
Mashable - When it comes to competition, CNN President Jon Klein fears Facebook. The man at the top of the news network believes that the social network is more of a threat to his business than other broadcast media organizations.

In a recent question-and-answer session with BusinessWeek, Klein specifically states, “We want to be the most trusted source,” and, “I’m more worried about the 500 million or so people on Facebook versus the 2 million on Fox.” More from Mashable

Should CNN be worried about Facebook, or thankful?

A chance to support the arts and Win $5,000

Support for non-profits is down all across the board and the arts seem to be suffering more than most. This year in order to reach our much needed fund raising goals in a down economy Dance Kaleidoscope is offering a special cash raffle. Only 2000 tickets will be sold. The drawing will be held on April 10th at our annual Kaleidoscope of Dance Gala and winners need not be present to win. Jamaica Farewell @ Indy Fringe/Indy Go Theatre thru March 21-Go see it, mon!

Having been associated with Indy Fringe Theatre Festival for nearly 7 years now, it's always great to see the things that they bring to Indy during the year. "They Call Me Mr. Fry!" was a surprising and wonderful performance. And now, Steve Fry brings back another performer's one person show; one that is going to be seen in an even bigger form within the next few years.

"Jamaica Farewell" is performed and written by Debbie Ehrhardt. She tells the tale of how she escaped the

The Dilemma of Blogger's Block

Last week I had my first official blogger’s block – for the entire week. I had to pull a blog from my “just in case” stash to make sure I had something out there. At first I was beating myself up over this thinking how can I be a blogger and not think of anything to blog about, and that I went “duh” – writers get writer’s block, so of course there is such a thing as blogger’s block. So I d

Oscars: The good, the bad and the ugly, plus a case for Sarah Jessica Parker

To accompany the drama of the first female to win the Oscar for best
director (Kathryn Bigelow) and Sandra Bullock's underdog win, was
plenty of sartorial eye candy. I've felt disappointed by red carpet
fashion of late, but last night's award show made for plenty of fashion
food to feed on. Cameron Diaz was an absolute vision and Rachel McAdams
was as fresh faced and beautiful as they come. Sandra Bullock was
luminous with her super chic mane and Sandy Powell's daring vintage
look was positively… Continue

Feeling Like a Real Nurse

As I stated in the last blog, week seven and the passing of my practical exam, qualified me to pass medications, administer injections, and perform dressing changes while in the hospital this week.

I have very specific information that I must be familiar with upon entering the hospital on Friday morning; the pathophysiology of my patient’s diagnosed disease, orders for nursing care, abnormal lab and
diagnostic results, and

So you have a blog, now what?

About six months ago I started a blog for myself. I focused on health, nutrition and eating right. www.nicoleonthego.com It was a lot of fun for the first few months, then the “burn out” came. After reading an article posted by Scott Hepburn on
mediaemerging.com, I came to realize that I was going about it all
wrong. I had thrown myself into blogging a couple times a day, adding
followers on Twitter, subscribing to any blog that was even

5 Ways to Increase Donations through Social Media

We finished up our Increasing Donations through Social Media seminar yesterday and it was great to meet individuals from the not-for-profit world in Indianapolis. We had some awesome conversations surrounding the idea of telling YOUR story to the world... the story that drives emotion through each and every donor. I wanted to upload the Powerpoint presentation I used yesterday and give a couple of pointers on increasing donations through social media.

Morgan Spurlock and the Next 30 Days

I came across a show the other day that grabbed my attention. It comes from the man that almost ate himself to death in the film Super Size Me, Morgan Spurlock. The show is titled 30 Days and Morgan puts himself in situations for thirty days that he would normally not find himself in. He does the research, he plans the topic, and then is filmed for the thirty days breaking down how his mind and body react to the living this life style for an entire month. The show is quite good and it allows

This isn't just any old panel discussion; IndyTalks is an opportunity for us to engage and connect. As Smoosiers, we do that pretty well anyway. And the next public discussion will be on March 18 at 7 p.m. on the campus of Marian University. You can find out more details on the web site.

It's interesting that the discussion topic will be about the role of public leaders in engaging ethical issues. We hold our leader
