Just off the top of my head I would suggest trying the local Chamber of Commerce office. If that fails try a local Real Estate office, or Lodge?

Sites that help us find stuff - there's a new order emerging
From Fast Company - Late yesterday Twitter announced that it had 145 million registered users--impressive, at around a third of the number of Facebookers and comparable to the number of people Apple's just opened up its new music-based social network Ping to. But a more meaningful measure of Twitter's growth is how many people are using it, and a new survey has revealed that Twitter's seen nothing less than staggering growth over recent months.

Many people seem to be using Twitter as a news source, to find new information through referral and recommendations and buzz. This type of content sourcing used to be the realm of DIGG, but the game seems to be changing. More

Fringe

What a wonderful event full of energy and new found people - and places. Thanks for a wonderful week in Indy.

Indy Fringe Day 10

It was my final performance of Andrea Merlyn's Book Of Secrets. The show could have gone better. The stage crew brought the curtains in too early, I dropped a prop, I invented a new method to vanishing salt and making it reappear, and I sweated through my false eyelashes. But, the crowd loved it and it was the largest Sunday audience I've had at Fringe since the first year in 2005.

We headed out to see Archy and Mehetibal (forgive me, the spelling is not in front of me) and it was a GEM. The pe… Continue

A Brighter Shade of Blue — Indy Fringe Festival Review

I got to see A Brighter Shade of Blue, starring Paul Strickland on the last Friday of the show, and was glad I went. I skipped another show to finish up some writing, and nearly didn't go to this one, but I remembered that Paul was a storyteller from Louisville.

I like story telling, and I like Louisvil… Continue

Debt and Presidents

While some of the country is going crazy over the pile of debt the current administration is piling up, it's interesting to look at consumer debt and its growth over the years. As we talk about debt it's always fascinating to me that the folks in power never care about debt and the folks out of power always complain about it.

This graphic does show a sharp upturn in government debt, but also points out that we're not too innocent ourselves. In the last five presidential term

#HobNob: Tweet the Candidates

It's HobNob time again, central Indiana, and your elected officials and candidates for public office want to know what you think. So says the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, and in the spirit of the original word, the event is a great give-and-take. This year, you can meet the candidates and you can also tweet them. The chamber is stepping up its social media savvy, and asked Marian University to be its social media sponsor for HobNob.

And since we do what others ask of

Indy Fringe Day 6

I'm still trying to find the after show parties. They are there, but very small, unlike past years. Chatham Pub was actually well staffed and a few Fringers were on the back porch and I shared a nice nacho platter and hard cider with Wendy from East of Indy.

I tried not to read my reviews, but they're posted everywhere. I don't know if they'll bring in any more patrons, but they are all positive. I have a bit of a neurosis over my being so prominent in the press. Does having a female im… Continue

5 Things I Learned at #bin2010

1. Twitter is more powerful than I thought - Almost EVERYONE was tweeting during the Friday morning keynote session. People tweeting to each other about the session, others were tweeting their schedules, picking meeting places for lunch, and maybe the occasional sarcastic comment (Sorry Kyle, I really was making fun of Jim Brown when I talked about your vest...)

2. Relationships were built from the ground up - Last year I knew one person. This year I felt right at home with

Indy Fringe Day 5

I saw no shows yesterday, as I had a performance at 9 PM. The show is the best I've ever done, but why go into details. Come see it and if you do, let me know you saw it because of Smaller Indiana. I have yet to find anyone attending my show because of these blogs.

Lydia Burris, Fringe and Indy Magic Monthly artist, appeared on Indy Style this morning. She looked great, mentioned me (ego boo music please), and showed off her art. And the performance artist from Fringe really showed off the grow… Continue

Do Not Kill Me, Killer Robots - Indy Fringe Theatre Review

I'm never quite sure about one-man and one-woman shows. Sometimes they can be very good, and sometimes they're nothing more than a standup comedy routine in story form. Think Mike Birbiglia or Eddie Izzard. And while I love these comedians, there aren't a whole lot of people who can pull off the art form.

So I tend to steer clear of a lot of the one-man shows, although I have yet to see a bad one at an Indy Fringe. (Admittedly, I've avoided a lot of them too.) But when I saw the title "… Continue
